The Uterine Cancer Symptoms You Need to Know

Published: Aug 31st, 2010 | Author: admin Add Comment

Uterine cancer is more common to women who have undergone or is undergoing menopause. That is because, although the cause of this disease is still not identified at present, it is found out that the inability of the progesterone hormone to offset the estrogen hormone contributes to the possibility of its development; which is the case at this stage. There is too much estrogen being produced and the progesterone isn’t enough to balance.

Although this type of cancer more often targets middle-aged and elderly women, it can also affect the younger ones. That is why, all women must be aware of uterine cancer symptoms so that we will know when we need to see the doctor.

One of the most common symptoms is vaginal bleeding. Almost all that have been diagnosed with this have experienced bleeding or vaginal discharge. For young women, you must be very observant. If you experience spotting in between periods, unusual heavy periods and bleeding after intercourse, you must not disregard the signs. For those that have undergone menopause, if you start bleeding 6 months later, go and see your doctor. There are also certain pains that could be felt although not everyone experiences them just like for those with uterine sarcoma, a certain type of uterine cancer, just a few experience pain during urination, during intercourse and pain in the area of the pelvis. Interesting Facts About Acute Leukemia

Published: Aug 30th, 2010 | Author: admin Add Comment

Leukemia is also known as blood cancer. However, this term is a misnomer because rather than causing cancer in the blood, the cancer is caused in the bone marrow and it affects the white blood cells. These cells are responsible for fighting infections, bacteria and viruses that enter our body. Once the white blood cells are affected, our body gets weakened and is exposed to infections.

There are several types of leukemia and the treatment varies depending on the type. However, the two main types of leukemia are acute leukemia and chronic leukemia. Chronic leukemia is considered to be milder; in other words not all the white blood cells are defective and the progress of the disease is much slower than acute leukemia. (more…)

As stem cell treatments are taking place worldwide, there is a need to understand what they exactly mean. According to the medical fraternity, stem cells are the life providers of human beings and their use in the right way will lead to new discoveries in medical sciences in coming years. In Mexico, stem cell therapy is an effective way of treating various diseases.

These cells can slow the ageing process and help people stay healthy in many ways. They can boost the immune system and provide additional strength to the body. There are different types of stem cells present in the body like autologous, xenogenic, and allogenic. The common functionality of a stem cell is to differentiate between tissues and their healing power. The damaged tissues are repaired by these cells as they work together with systemic cells in the body. For stem cell treatment, Tijuana has world renowned doctors whom you can check out for any queries. Tijuana stem cell therapy is one of the best in the world. (more…)

Virginia's History Of Asbestos Use

Published: Aug 29th, 2010 | Author: admin Add Comment

The Appalachian Mountains, which run through Virginia and several other states, contain deposits of asbestos, a naturally occurring mineral that can cause serious health problems. Virginia contains a large number of asbestos concentrations along the Blue Ridge and Maryland state line, west of Washington, D.C.

Two mines in Virginia were found to contain deposits of asbestos. Although these mines have been closed, Virginia still operates a vermiculite mine in Louisa. Alone, vermiculite is a nontoxic material used for insulation. However, asbestos can contaminate other minerals as they are mined.

In 2000, the Virginia vermiculite mine was tested to identify the presence of asbestos. Conducted by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, the tests evaluated 30 air samples. Each air sample showed a dangerous level of the mineral. Additionally, 12 samples of ore and rocks also suggested a presence of two other forms of asbestos. The Louisa mine has been likened to the case of the infamous vermiculite mine in Libby, Montana, where 200 people in the town developed asbestos-related diseases. (more…)

Beautiful Skin – Causes and Signs of Skin Cancer

Published: Aug 29th, 2010 | Author: admin Add Comment

One of the most prevalent cases of cancer is skin cancer. In the US alone it is estimated that 1 million citizens are affected with this kind of disease. It is important that we are aware of how skin cancer develops and how it can be prevented to avoid its fatal consequences.

In order to understand how skin cancer develops, one should first have an idea on the parts of the skin and how they function.

The skin is composed of two layers – the outermost part is called the epidermis while the innermost part is called the dermis. The epidermis is composed of flat cells called squamos cells. Under them are round cells referred to as basal cells. There are also the melanocytes cells which form the color of the skin and are found in the lower portion of the skin’s epidermis.

Just underneath the epidermis is the dermis containing lymph and blood vessels as well as glands. Some of these produce sweat that helps the body to cool down. Some glands also produce sebum, an oily material which helps the skin to remain moisturized. Both sweat and sebum are able to reach the skin’s surface by going through pores.

Just like in any part of the body, cells are considered as the skin’s basic units. Skin cells expand and multiply into new cells. Skin cells also die, leaving new cells to further develop. (more…)

Blood Cancer treatment in India

Blood Cancer (Leukemia) – Treatment Overview

The goal of treatment for Blood Cancer (Leukemia) is to destroy the leukemia cells and allow normal cells to form in your bone marrow. Treatment decisions are based on the type and subtype of leukemia you have, its stage, and your age and general health…

Treatment for acute Blood Cancer (Leukemia)

  • Induction : -The goal of this stage is remission. Remission is a period in which the leukemia cells have been destroyed and are replaced with healthy cells. Induction is done with high doses of powerful drugs which may be given over a period of time from about a week to a month, depending on the type of leukemia. Then it takes several weeks for your body to start growing new blood cells. You probably will stay in the hospital during this time. This can take a month or longer…
  • Consolidation : -Even when tests show no leukemia cells can be found, there may still be some left. The goal of consolidation is to kill any cells that are left. Consolidation often involves the same drugs given in the induction stage, but the schedule and doses may be different. For example, you may receive the drugs in one or two 5-day cycles spread over 1 to 3 months… (more…)

The Lowdown on Skin Cancer

Published: Aug 28th, 2010 | Author: admin Add Comment

Skin is our largest organ and one that is not immune to developing cancerous cells. Skin cancer develops when damaged cells start growing and dividing uncontrollably in the skin. This form of cancer is the most prevalent with more than one million cases in the United States diagnosed each year. Here we will cover some of the commonly asked questions.

What Are The Different Forms of Skin Cancer?

There are different types of skin cancer with three forms accounting for almost all of the diagnosed cases. They are:

• Basal cell carcinoma (BCC)- Accounting for nearly 80% of skin cancer, BCC develops in the basal cells which are located in the lowest layer of the epidermis. It is commonly found on areas of the body regularly exposed to the sun such as your face, head and upper body. Signs of BCC include skin that appears as a sore that repeatedly heals and re-opens, a slightly elevated pink growth, patch of irritated skin that is red in color and/or shiny translucent skin. This type of cancer does not commonly spread but should be treated to protect surrounding tissue. (more…)

All Age Groups Are at Risk For Ovarian Cancer

Published: Aug 27th, 2010 | Author: admin Add Comment

Ovarian cancer is the deadliest gynecological cancer in the United States as of now. It affects close in 1 in every 70 women in their lifetime and is a debilitating disease. All women after puberty are considered to be at risk for developing ovarian cancer; however some age groups are more prone to developing the disease. This is due to the importance of personal and family history while mapping out cancerous cells and many other factors. The occurrence of ovarian cancer is seen most frequently in the age groups of 40 and above. Women with ages lower than 40 are also at risk but it is a significantly lower one.

Women who have never been pregnant and are above the age of 30 also run a high risk. It is of three types and all three types’ shows significant risk in the age group of 35 to 65 years. Below the age of 15 years, there is very little risk of developing ovarian cancer since the ovaries do not function fully till puberty. However, with females who have been identified as having the genes linked to breast cancer and have had a family history of ovarian cancer, the risk increases even for those under the age of 15. Treatment For Prostate Cancer – Which One is the Best?

Treatment for prostate cancer is extensive from my estimation. But this does not mean you have to use only one method to help you out.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers that affect 1 out of 6 men in the United States alone. Older men are more prone to this disease. In fact, 65% of sufferers of this condition are over 65 years old.

This disease happens when the cells located in the prostate increases in number. Normally, our cells follow a regular life cycle. But when these cells do not follow that life cycle and they grow uncontrollably this leads way to the production of cells that are more than usual. (more…)

The Deadly Facts – The Cell Phone Industry Knows Emf Is Dangerous!

Published: Aug 26th, 2010 | Author: admin Add Comment

In 1999, the results of the research findings were published. The following summary is quoted directly from that report:

1. The rate of death from brain cancer among handheld phone users was higher than the rate of brain cancer among those who used non-handheld phones that were away from their head
2. The risk of acoustic neuroma, a benign tumor of the auditory nerve, was 50% higher in people who reported using cell phones for six years or more
3. The risk of rare neuro-epithelial tumors on the outside of the brain was more than doubled in cell phone users as compared to non-users
4. There is some correlation between tumors occurring on the right side of the head and use of the phone on the right side of the head
5. Laboratory studies looking at the ability of radiation from a cell phone’s antenna to cause functional genetic damage were definitely positive

In other words, the research found genetic damage, leakage of the blood-brain barrier, cellular dysfunction and a tripling in the risk of rare neuroepithelial tumors and rare brain tumors in people using cell phones versus those who did not use cell phones. In fact, the tumors even correlated to the side of the head where the subjects reported using the phone most often. (more…)
